Find Someone Who-Class building, Mastery

1. Teacher Prepares Worksheet-Teacher creates a worksheet that has problems to be solved (348 + 56), specialized information , or information to be learned about classmates.

2. Students Mix & Pair-with worksheets in hand, students circulate through the room until they find a partner. Student A asks Student B one question on the worksheet.

3. Reverse Roles-Students switch roles. Student B asks student A one question on the worksheet.

4. Students Mix & Pair-Students may ask each other one question only, then continue to mix and pair until they finish the Find Someone Who form.

Think Pair Share-Thinking Skills

1. Have students form groups of 4. Each student counts off:1-2-3-4.

2. Announce the discussion topic (How can we increase recycling in our school?).

3. Give students “think time” to brainstorm their individual responses.

4. To increase student accountability and participation, have students write down their responses.

5. Assign discussion partners. For example, students #1 and #3 will pair, students #2 and #4 will pair.

6. Have students discuss the topic. The first student in each pair will have an allotted amount of time (60 sec.) and then the second student will have the same amount of time.

7. Call on a few students to share their response.

Telephone-Task Specialization

1.                Prepare something for the learners to do while they miss instruction.

2.           Learners Leave-One learner from each team is selected to leave the room.

3.           Students Receive Instruction-The remaining students, the “Teachers”, receive instruction.

4. Teammates Plan Instruction-The Teachers plan how best to instruct the Learner, making sure each

Teacher has a part in teaching.

5.           Learners Return-The Learners return to their teams.

6. Teammates Teach Learner-The Teachers take turns teaching (Round Robin) their part of the content, with teammates augmenting as necessary.

7. Practice Test-Learners take a practice test. Teammates cannot help with the test. When the test is done, the team reviews what the Learner missed and how they could have better prepared him or her for the test or better communicated the information.
